This guy's my hero today.

This morning Mamala sent me an article about a dogfighting case in Michigan. Nine months after seizure, a judge was to rule on the fate of on the dogs today. According to different articles, there are apparently laws in Michigan stating that dogs pulled from fighting situations cannot be adopted (I guess prosecutors also tried to claim that dogs pulled from dogfighting situations must be euthanized, including their puppies). Outrageous, right?

I'll admit it, I expected the worst-- the Michigan legal/political system isn't always the most sensible entity. I expected that the judge wouldn't even consider that the pit bulls aren't the problem, but rather the people putting them in the situation.

Oh, I'm so happy to be wrong! Judge David M. Lawson saved most of the dogs, even going so far as to say that there's no reason they can't be adopted out. He ruled that several be put down because they were labeled as "champion fighters", but recommended that the lawyers for the Human Society meet with government agents and have them reassessed.

I have no idea how this guy has ruled on any other cases, but man-- did he ever serve justice today!

On the local news shows tonight they announced that the humane society is looking for adoptive families for these dogs.

Saw pictures of some of the dogs, they are so cute.

Bet that judge is secretly in the puggle posse. You know how cool those puggle people are! He is probably all mean at work and then comes home and rolls on the ground with five puggles and giggles like a lil' girl.
